Lake Elmo’s first open space neighborhood

Custom built homes on a quiet cul de sac surrounding Homestead’s original 1800s barn

Homestead features 18 unique, custom built homes developed by DeWitt Homes in 1999. Lots sizes of approximately one acre with mature trees and landscapes complement the barn original to the St. Croix Valley farm that once included cows and fields of crops.

Conveniently located south of the village of Lake Elmo, Homestead is close to downtown businesses, as well as a post office and library. The neighborhood is adjacent to Royal Golf Club and a new elementary school.

Neighbors enjoy the Lake Elmo Park Reserve, a county park of over 2,100 acres surrounding the lake for hikes, dog walks, cross country ski trails, boating, swimming, festivals and more.

Bike trails are accessible from the neighborhood, including the Gateway Trail. The St. Croix River is a few miles away.

Highways 694 and 94 are only minutes away with easy freeway access. Downtown Saint Paul lies just 12 miles away and the MSP airport is a convenient 30 minute drive from Homestead.

Dining options near Homestead include the Lake Elmo Inn and many excellent restaurants in Stillwater and Hudson. Woodbury lies just across Highway 94 from Homestead, offering many types of retail, grocery stores, a movie theatre and other services.

Lake Elmo is served by Stillwater school district 834, with an elementary school close by and many private school and childcare choices within a short distance.

Every home in Homestead has its own style. DeWitt Custom Homes developed the land, situated each house to its best advantage, then ensured that each one would be custom built to be timeless and beautiful, inside and out.

HOMES

AMENITIES

Nestled in a cozy cul de sac with nearly 20 acres of open space, several acres of Homestead remain permanently protected by a conservation easement with Minnesota Land Trust.

Enjoy the grass walking path around the field and pond, perfect for time with family, friends and dogs. This open space amenity is passive use, featuring pollinator-friendly native prairie and native trees installed in 2015.

Wildlife seen regularly includes wild turkeys, river otters, turtles, deer, coyote, fox and geese, as well as eagles, ducks and Sandhill cranes.

HOMEOWNERS ASSOCIATION

Homestead Homeowners Association is self managed and provides for the maintenance of common and open spaces, as well as the barn. Private yards of approximately one acre each are maintained by individual homeowners.

Covenants govern some exterior elements of homes and landscapes. HOA dues are paid annually. Homeowners meet in the spring for an annual meeting hosted by the HOA Board of Directors and there are many opportunities to join HOA committees.
